No Rhyme or Reason

This post is at the back of our property. It marks off the Blankenship corn field. I tried to get close enough for the shot to be "looking through" the hole in the wood, but it was too blurry. That would be a nice shot for someone with a honkin zoom. LOL Of course I've always wondered how the wood became so burned up. Has Sheldon's former Arsonist of the Year been involved with this?? Hmmm? This is my cousin Bill and wife Franciska, he's in the Marine Corps and getting ready for his 4th or 5th tour in Iraq. I cannot remember which number! To think this is the same guy I used to build forts in the woods with in Stafford, VA!! The same guy that would throw frogs at all us girls! LOL

Texture

I like the different textures of the trees. There are 3 different species here. I told ya'll I'm a bit corny at times! LOL Do ya'll know what kind they are? Hmmm? The last two are so easy I shouldn't even ask! LOL

My heart hurts

The guy with the Abrams looks a little familiar lol..at least the hat does!

it does, it hurts, its heavy and my insides are shaky. I've gone to the Blue Angels airshows since I was a baby. My Dad was an M.P. and was the Provost Marshall so we were always at an air show. I love our military so much, I always cry when the jets fly over and I can feel their thunder in my chest. Not sad tears, tears of pride. We were watching them today, the maneuvers were done, they were circling back around to land. You know how two of them always sneak up behind you and scare the wits out of you. Well, I always turn to watch them(I know their little tricks). LOL So I turned, and saw the #6 jet skim the treetops, then he was gone...what sounded like an enormous cannon...and then the smoke. My children grabbed my arms and hands, whatever they could reach and squeezed. We prayed, but I can't help but feel that my prayer was kind of a hopeless one, like I knew he wasn't walking away from it. Not a good prayer, I know.

I have to tell you two things that happened with Bubba. He was putting jewels in his crown today. He was very upset as we all were, but said, "mom i need to help the marines. I want to help, what can I do?" through his crying eyes. Before I could say anything he said, " I know, I know what I can do!" He started running around, picking up EVERY single piece of trash he could find and put in the trash can. He knew the marines would have to do it and he knew they would be upset about the crash and didn't want them to worry about it.

The second is this. There is a great deal of anger but also pride I have with this one. Bear with me! The air station erected an orange barrier fence like they always do to keep people off the tarmac. You know, that really important place where all the emergency vehicles go when responding to...oh i don't know...a plane crash!!! Right after the Angel went down the emergency crews went flying down the runway to the crash site, the MUSC helo took off and some official's vehicles went flying by as well. Upon seeing this some of the "stupid civilians"took it upon themselves to LAY DOWN the barrier fence panels and walk their happy little butts back to their vehicles!!! Are you kidding me?!?! Have you lost your mind?? I don't know maybe I was raw from witnessing what had just happened, but I lost my ....you know what. My son, that witness, that warrior for Christ brushed my hand, never said a word, never even looked up at me. He quietly and with a purposeful stride walked over to the fence panels (4 of them) and while the people walked over them, began righting them. He picked up and righted every single metal framed panel so noone could pass where they weren't supposed to go. As I watched in amazment I saw a very well dressed man with a huge camera around his neck approaching my son. I don't know why, but God gave me a total peace, as I watched. I saw this very well dressed man yell at my son, "boy! you lay that fence back down so I can walk through!"

My son...never said a word...looked him in the eye...placed his hand on the fence...and never laid it down. The man left another way. I cannot express with words the pride I feel for my son.

I did take some pictures during the day and they are all smiles. I'd like you to see them. I apologize for the length of the post but I needed to release it.

Dinosaur Eggs!

Yes ladies and gentleman these are dinosaur eggs! ~grinz~ ok ok, so they're rocks!

When I started to find these "eggs" I told my kids, "look! look! I found a dinosaur egg!" Christina and Shelby of course looked at me and rolled their eyes. Christina the scholar questioned me, "Mom, you do realize dinosaurs are extinct? RIGHT??" and of course from Shelby.."mom please!" (what a couple of poops!) LOL

Bubba was excited, LOL this was a few years ago.Thankfully he eventually came to terms with the lack of dinosaurs roaming free in our front yard, and looks for more dino eggs for his nutcase mom every chance he gets. I love rocks like these! Smoothed and worn from time passing over them.

I use them in my butterfly garden for shelters. Now some of you are looking at the screen with your head cocked to one side. LOL If you stack them in such a way to have an open space underneath them, the butterflies will crawl into the space to take shelter during the heat of the day and to hide from predators.

So, here is my corny post for the day...dinosaur eggs!

Hmmm, Can't Explain It!

Now who do you suppose wiped my makeup all over the bath towels? Amazing, noone knows! I guess those lipstick smudges across Pooh's face got there as she dried her face on the towels...and washcloth...and toilet paper in the trash can...LOL What a brat!

Hey everyone, sorry I've been missing my posts the past couple of days. I was sick all day Friday and most of the night, and today we had a big youth praise concert at church. I've been going since 7 and am a little tired. I'm cheating and posting an old pic! LOL This little "caterpitter" as Pooh says, thought my apple blossoms were very tasty. I gently explained to the pitter that this was unacceptable and moved him to the nearest pecan tree! LOL Love you all!

I was standing under my red maple tree looking up and noticed the silvery backs of the leaves. If I didn't know better I would swear its a silver maple, but its definately a red. The leaves are very fresh and will darken a bit in the coming weeks. This tree has had a few woodpeckers visiting it. There are holes encircling the entire tree!
I wish ya'll could see this in person. Its the side of Eric's shed with huge privets growing around the window. It's the neatest little hideout for the kiddos. One of Pooh's favorite hiding places for hide and go seek.

My Easter Eggs

Who says you have to outgrow the love of decorating Easter eggs? Not me! These are a couple I decorated tonight. The kids got the other 5 dozen for themselves!

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend!

This diamond is more my style. Right around my budget range too! LOL Meet Shelby's illustrious 3rd base coach. I may get the nerve up to ask him out!
Gotta warm up those muscles ladies! Hey Jame, this is the new Burton Wells complex. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but its beautiful. The fields have changed a little since you played in Beaufort!

Happy 14 Baby!

So young, so in love, so completely clueless! HA! Here we are 14 years ago. Yesterday was our anniversary. We celebrated in high style as always ~grins~on the softball field! LOL Now really, can you think of anything more romantic than a softball field full of 11 - 12 year old girls, gnats and screaming parents? LOL Eric looked to me from the 3rd base line and said, "hey, am I taking you out for our anniversary?" I politely replied, "unless you want hot pockets for dinner you will!" LOL So we all ended up at Golden Coral for a quiet romantic dinner for 6! LOL Oh well, our 15th is going to be amazing, and I can't imagine not having our kids with us anyway. OK honestly, I don't remember what it's like anymore!

I can't imagine life without him, who else is going to sing Fat Bottom Girls to me? LMAO or nurse me back to health when I give myself a concussion?
I have no idea why I was sucking in my bottom lip!

This picture really doesn't do this branch justice. You can't even get close to how steep this really is. To get down to the water you have to slide on your butt. If you try walking down you will very quickly find yourself tumbling head over foot...over head...over foot!
I like the color contrast in this one.

This is about 6:30 to 7 am. The mist was just beginning to lift off the water.
